Expert Dog Training in Reading, Massachusetts

K-9 Top Performance has been the premier dog training facility in Reading, MA for over 25 years. Our trainers work with dogs of every breed, age, and temperament — from playful puppies learning the basics to mature dogs dealing with serious behavioral challenges. Located at 335 Main Street, we serve dog owners throughout Reading, Wakefield, Wilmington, North Reading, Stoneham, Woburn, and the greater Middlesex County area.

Every dog that comes to us starts with a private evaluation. One of our trainers will meet with you and your dog, assess the situation, and recommend the program that best fits your needs. Evaluations are available Monday through Friday and can be scheduled by phone or email.

Training Programs ‍Available in Reading

K-9 Camp (Most Popular)

K-9 Camp is our flagship program and the most popular choice among our clients. Your dog spends the day at our facility receiving one-on-one training with our staff trainers, combined with structured socialization with other dogs and people. K-9 Camp runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This program is ideal for dogs that benefit from consistent daily training in a professional environment.

Puppy Training

Start your puppy off right with our puppy training program. Puppies receive a private training session during the day and are carefully introduced to our daycare environment for early socialization. Building a solid foundation of obedience and social skills early makes a lifelong difference.

Obedience Training

Our obedience training program covers all the essential commands: sit, down, come, stay, and heel. We also address any other specific issues you may be experiencing with your dog. Training is conducted privately, giving your dog focused attention from our trainers.

Behavior Modification

For dogs of any age dealing with behavioral problems such as aggression toward dogs, people, or food, fear-based reactivity, or other challenging behaviors. Our trainers evaluate the severity of the issue and create a customized plan for your dog's specific needs. This is not a one-size-fits-all approach — every behavior modification program is tailored to the individual dog.

Private Lessons

Private individual training lessons are available for dogs and owners that, due to behavioral issues, are ineligible for K-9 Camp or Boarding with Training. Private lessons can also be a good fit for owners who prefer focused one-on-one instruction. Lessons are available Monday through Friday and can be scheduled by phone or email.

In-Home Visits

Some issues are best addressed where they happen. Our in-home visit program sends a trainer to your home to work on problems that cannot be solved at our facility — things like door-rushing, territorial behavior, or household-specific triggers. Pricing varies depending on location.

Protection Training

Our protection program is specifically designed for those who want a personal protection dog or are training for protection sport competitions. The program develops the skills necessary to deter potential threats or respond to attempted assaults. This is a specialized service built on our decades of experience working with high-drive dogs.

Boarding with Training

Combine a boarding stay with a customized training program. Our trainers design a plan that addresses two to three specific problems — obedience, aggression, fears, destructive behavior, or other issues. Boarding with Training is available at $85.00 per night. We typically ask that you meet with a trainer before the stay to discuss your goals.
